Meet the Artists

Jim Oneacre

Basket Maker

Jim is a Native of West Virginia, although he spent most of his working career in manufacturing and engineering with Xerox Corporation near Rochester, New York.  He has always been active in woodworking and wood products, winning first place in the senior woodworking division of the West Virginia Student Craftsman's Fair.  Jim is a graduate of West Virginia University and the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Jim got into his hobby by having his brother-in-law teach him to make baskets for his son's rehearsal dinner.  The rest is history.  He has no problem keeping busy in his retirement, spending endless hours in his workshop.  Jim has a wide selection of baskets and is also willing to design and make baskets for special needs. He specializes in wooden bottom baskets  but can do open or closed weave baskets as well.  Jim is also a member of the Henderson County Crafters Association.
