Laraine Short is a native of Boston, Mass. & now has a residence in Flat Rock, N.C. She is excited to be a member of the Guild and has her art displayed for sale year round here in Hendersonville.

    Laraine has enjoyed painting on various mediums to include wood, glass, fabric, canvas and now specializes in GOURD ART. Laraine taught crafts at Florida Community College in Jacksonville, Fl for several years. She is the past president of the Decorative Artists of Jacksonville and still an active member of the American Gourd Society, Georgia Gourd Society and the Florida Gourd Society where she serves as Vice President. Her gourd entry for the 2008 Georgia Gourd Show was voted "Best of Show".

   She has taught classes at various state gourd shows and the Cherokee Gourd Artists Gathering. She has also taught at local and National workshops and enjoys teaching others the "Wonderful World of Gourd Art".
