Marie was raised in the towns of Hayesville and Franklin, North Carolina and then moved to Raleigh to attend college. It was there that she began to draw pictures from old movies like Philadelphia and On The Waterfront. Now that Marie is back in the mountains, she is more inspired toward subjects in nature, though some of her work is just for fun. Her very detailed, fine-lined images in gray with white have a wonderful mystical quality.
Marie is dealing with fairly advanced Parkinson's disease and says that her drawing steadies her tremors.
